Connect Community Summer Camps

This summer, our Kindergarten- 9th graders from Gulfton have the opportunity of a lifetime to participate in several week-long summer camps being organized by Connect Community. From coding to improvisation there is a wide range of organizations who will be providing our students with enriching experiences that they would not have access to otherwise. Our goal is to provide these camps at a nominal fee for families in order to eliminate the barrier for them to attend.
Our summer camp partners have graciously agreed to lower the price of their offerings to allow our students the chance to participate. Help us make these camps a reality by supporting us with a donation of any size. Your investment in our children sends a strong message that we are invested in all of our children living a life of full potential. Thank you! All funds will go directly to paying for the following programs:
TXRX Labs (a Makerspace): Youth will receive training in computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines: 3D printers, laser cutters, plasma cutters, lathes, mills, water jets, and router tables, and the foundational software for CNC machining: computer-aided drafting (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). The cost of this camp is $5800.
Coder Kids: Scratch offers a great platform for learning computer programming concepts like conditionals, boolean, variables, loops, and functions. It also offers a vast network of student projects and is a safe, public social network for kids. The cost of this camp is $1800.
Writers In The Schools: An award-winning STEM and IB-aligned educational experience, WITS Digital gives students the opportunity to explore technology and storytelling at the same time, developing their critical-thinking and creative writing skills in a fun and supportive environment. The cost of this camp is $3600.
Main Street Theater: MST is offering a one of a kind improvisation experience for our kids in a creative and challenging camp that is a fun outlet to help build confidence and let all personalities blossom!
Houston Health Museum: Discovery Camps
Campers will create and personalize a skeleton, study basic anatomy terminology, perform loads of horribly fantastic experiments, and learn a wealth of new facts about the human body. You will be amazed at how much these campers will learn in this fun, hands-on camp.
