600 million Africans do not have access to electricity and the urgency to address this can not be understated. According to the latest projection of United Nations Population Division, two-thirds of the population will remain without electricity until 2030.
This situation is dramatic because without the basic access to energy the future of a whole generation is now in jeopardy. At Winko Solar we want to impact people’s lives in a sustainable way and that’s what drives us to every single day.
Over the past year we have dug into our engineering background to develop and produce the Winko Box: The first all-in-one service including solar power, light, a mobile device and an internet data plan for $9/month with no upfront costs.
Our GoFundme campaign's goal is an important step of an ambitious plan to power and connect Africa’s next generation. This fundraiser aims to kickoff our go to market strategy: Using our proprietary service the Winko Box we will provide electricity, lighting, internet and a phone to 100 families in rural areas surrounding Lomé, Togo for free. In doing so we will immediately improve the quality of life of over 500 Africans. Not next year, not in 5 years, but TODAY.
