My name is Dr Terrence Hays and I am the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium (CHRC). We are a non-profit organization that delivers music education programs and music tuition across the wider community of Coffs Harbour.

The Conservatorium has recently been gifted a Yamaha CS9 Professional Concert Grand piano by a local benefactor and also the Coffs City Council. The instrument has the capacity to be a wonderful community asset and by being a first class concert instrument for performances and as well as attracting high profile musicians to the region. A concert piano needs to have a rich and full body sound, a responsive action, and the ability to thrill as well as convey the beauty and intentions of the composer to the listener. A skilled performer can only do this if they have a professional standard piano worthy of being in a concert hall.

The cost of a new professional concert grand is in excess of $140,000. However, the refurbishment of this beautiful CS9 will only be approximately $20,000. It is also being undertaken by one of Australia best technicians and restoration specialists

We are asking you to support this wonderful project. All funds raised will immediately go to the refurbishment of the Yamaha CS9 concert grand. As a non-profit organization, the CHRC relies on community funding for scholarships to support programs for musicians of all ages and their personal interested whether it be classical, contemporary, jazz, modern techno etc. Music is about personal expression and communication. For those of you who watched the ABC program 'The Piano' would understand the capacity that music and especially the piano has for so many people whether as a musician, or the listener.
