Concepcion Poveda Final Expenses

With a sorrowful heart, I share that our loving aunt Concha, Concepcion Poveda, departed the earthly world on 11/12/20 due to congestive heart failure. She was peaceful and surrounded by the love and care of all her family.

If you find it in your heart, please contribute to her final expense fund. She was a strong, independent woman who was never married and never birthed any children- all her nieces and nephews were her children. All contributions will go to her final expenses.

She was born 1/8/35 in Colombia to parents, Maria Celina and Manuel Poveda. She was 1 of 5 siblings and the last surviving of her family. She joined her family in Chicago in 1985 and primarily worked as a seamstress. She was active in the church and a devote Catholic woman. 

She was a strong willed, determined, methodical woman with a heart of gold! We were lucky to have her.

Due to the current state of the pandemic, there is a limit of 25 people in the funeral home at a time. If you plan to come to visit Concha, please be brief and mindful of social distancing and mask wearing. We ask that separate households do not hug. We would hate for a celebration of life be an occasion where we allow COVID to spread. The wake will be live streamed from 4:24pm- 6pm, with prayer service in Spanish occurring at 4:30-4:55pm here:

Con mucha tristeza, les comparto que nuestra amada tía Concha, Concepción Poveda, dejó el mundo terrenal anoche debido a una insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva. Estaba en paz y rodeada del amor y el cuidado de toda nuestra familia.

Era una mujer fuerte e independiente que nunca se casó y nunca tuvo hijos; todas sus sobrinas y sobrinos eran sus hijos. Todas las contribuciones se destinarán a sus gastos finales.

Nació el 1/8/35 en Colombia de padres, Maria Celina y Manuel Poveda. Ella era 1 de 5 hermanos y la última superviviente de su familia. Se unió a su familia en Chicago en 1985 y trabajó principalmente como costurera. Ella era activa en la iglesia y una devota mujer católica. ¡Era una mujer metódica, decidida y de voluntad fuerte con un corazón de oro! Tuvimos suerte de tenerla.
