Conaway Family Financial Relief

This is not an easy thing for me to ask for, but please consider helping my family through a tough financial crisis.

This is our story:

On March 29th, 2016, my wife Erica suffered a serious and compound fracture to her Sacrum (where the lower back meets the Pelvous) in which she spent the following month in the hospital recovering from the injury and left her unable to retrun to work as a Registered Nurse.   When her short term disability benefits ended and she was forced to return to work.  Although able to return to work,  the pain of the injury continued to weigh on her ability to do here job as a Nurse and she soon quit her job.  She has not been able to return to work since.  She was making some progress with the extremely long and sometime painful recovery process.  She has struggled to fully recover some of the debilitating effects of such a painful injury.  

Financially, we have been able to make ends meet this year until Erica suffered a second serious injury on July 2nd,  2017: a compound fracture to her ankle, tibia and fibula.  This injury required 2 major surgeries to repair the damage of the break and had left her unable to walk.  As she is recovering, we are finding unbelievably difficult to take care of managing our finances.

Both of Erica's injuries are potentially related to a  genetic connective tissue disorder known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) that can effect muscles, tendons and skin.  In Erica's case, having very loose and hypermobile joints may be part of what has lead to her broken leg (as well as nerve issues in her right leg from her sacrul fracture).

Additionally,  Erica was hospitalized on September 29th for a serious set of infections, including Staphylococcal,  that got into her blood Stream and required multiple surgeries to remove the infection. After being discharged, she returned to the hospital for an unknown fever that led to becoming extremely sick.  

After three  major injuries and 4 hospitalizations in over a year, my wife is unable to return work and we are in a fincancial crisis.  With Erica’s mounting healthcare bills and other non covered expenses and burdens,  we are finding it difficult to pay our mortgage, college loans and other monthly expenses.  Erica is in the process of submitting an application for Social Security Disability but we are unsure of how long that process will be or how successful we will be.  This is where we need your help! 

We are not perfect.  We have had our own personal troubles and financial struggles in the paste, but for the sake of our children, Meredith and Miles, we do not want to lose our home.
