Education for Children of Cambodia

Donation protected
I visited Cambodia for the first time in November 2016 to volunteer my time and skills for one of the NGOs in Kampot province. I fell in love with this amazing country and its beautiful people.

In July 2017, my partner and I spent some time in Kampot province volunteering our time and teaching computer skills and English, delivering scholarships, food packages, books and bicycles. We were training computer teachers and some outstanding students in operating systems, basic networking, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and using email, so that they can pass on the knowledge and empower the next generation. We also donated electronics that were gifted by some generous souls. They are really making a HUGE DIFFERENCE there!

In December, we are planning to spend some time with kids from Wellspring Initiative in Phnom Penh and teach them how to use computers :) These kids have had to
go out and beg for their families. They have very low education and have not been able to function in a public system.

"Wow that is exciting , I love that you don’t only give the computers but teach the kids how to use the computers too. ... They would greatly value to have the support that you are offering. As they would never have the opportunity to ever learn computers and this would help to support their education."
Lynn Johnston, Wellspring Initiative

We are also going to set up mobile computer classes for schools in Kampot province that don't even have computers and kids who have never used a computer before. A teacher will travel to different remote schools with a few laptops (on a motorbike or a tuk-tuk). They will be giving kids exposure to computers and teaching them the basics. We are also working on a curriculum for those classes.

"Mobile computer classes is a great project, as it will change lives of many students in the rural schools - from not knowing how to use computer at all to being skilled at typing, using Word, Excel, email and the Internet. It will open their eyes to see the world. It's a big problem when they go to the university and have no idea what a computer is and even how to turn on and off a laptop! One of the students took off the light plug when his friend asked him to turn off a desktop computer..."
Chan Thuch, BLCP - Your Aid , We Deliver

The donations will be used for:
- salary of the mobile computer class teacher ($2,100 for 6 months)
- Internet for mobile computer classes ($300 for 6 months)
- educational programs to install on the laptops ($400)
- books and other educational materials ($100)
- electricity and other operational costs ($300)
- scholarships for outstanding students ($300)

I'm flying to Cambodia on the 11th of December and will keep you updated on our work in Phnom Penh and Kampot!!!

I was deeply touched by kindness and generosity of Cambodian people and the challenges their country has been facing.

As the first educated person in my family, I really understand the importance of education. It has completely turned my life around! Every child deserves quality education and this is my contribution to make this happen. My gratitude to all of you who will support this action.

Help to spread the word!
