Senior Composition Recital

Hello, my name is Drew Swatosh, and I am senior at Western Oregon University. Currently, I am working towards a Bachelors of Music in contemporary music. As part of this degree I am required to put on a senior recital. During my time a Western I studied music composition with Dr. Bill Whitley, and Dr. Kevin Walczyk. They have helped to expand my compositional tools, and to refine my technique.

I am raising money for my senior recital to help pay for printing costs and for the musicians I want to have perform in my recital. I have many different pieces I am planning to include on my recital such as Eurydice, a one-act chamber opera, 2 mini big band arrangements, and Ponderings on Life, the Universe, and Everything, an electro-acoustic song cycle. In total I am planning to ask 20-25 musicians, and I'm hoping to pay them each between $25-50 for their time and commitment to my recital and helping to bring integrity to the performance my compositions.

To hear some of my composition please check out my sound cloud.

In addition to money for my senior recital. I am looking to buy a Brazilian instrument called a Cavquinho. While at Western, I have had the opportunity to play this instrument in a group called Orquestra Brasil, which focuses on the performance of music from Brazil. Currently, I am renting this instrument from the school, and would like to eventually own one of my own, so that I can continue honing my skills.
