World Dwarf Games
This international sports event takes place every four years, emulating the Olympics. I will be attending these 2017 World Games as both an athlete and team manager.
Who is Colin Kraft?
I was born with dwarfism to average size parents in 1990. My family and I have been active in Little People of America (LPA) since 1991 and active in the Dwarf Athletic Association of America (DAAA) since 2000 competing at the national and international levels.
This will be my fourth time competing at the international level and I love that the World Dwarf Games is a prime opportunity for dwarf athletes like me get to compete eye-to-eye in a competitive environment. This year I will be competing on Team USA in Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball and Floor Hockey. In addition, I have been asked to take on the role of manager to all the Team USA floor hockey teams. I will step up to the challenge as the leader I have evolved into throughout my young professional career. I take great pride in being able to represent my country by wearing the Team USA logo throughout the week when competing against and interacting with athletes from around the world. I thoroughly enjoy watching and competing with the high level of talent and athleticism from all over the world.
What’s the money for?
Since DAAA is a non-profit organization and runs solely on donations, it does not pay the athletes to compete. The athletes are obligated to cover the cost to live in the Athlete Village, lodging and meals, registration for the games, airfare to and from the games, as well as uniform costs. These costs translate to expenses that are typically out of reach for many to consider participating in this wonderful opportunity. I would be greatly appreciative for any financial help my large circle of friends and family can provide to help reduce my costs and make my experience in Guelph, Ontario even that much better.
Any funds that exceed the goal will go towards supplementing my family members who will be at the games cheering me on.
