Compassionate Friends National Website
Every month in 10 locations throughout Oklahoma, through a network of more than 650 chapters with locations in all 50 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and Guam, The Compassionate Friends has been supporting bereaved families after the death of a child for four decades. The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a non-profit, self-help grief-support group organized by bereaved families who have already survived the loss of a child. TCF understands that each person must find their own way through grief and provides support, understanding and education in a safe and confidential environment. This program really works because bereaved families do help each other toward a positive resolution of grief. TCF also shares what we learn about the needs of bereaved families with the professional and first responder communities.
More specifically, The North Oklahoma City Chapter of The Compassionate Friends meets the 2nd Thursday of every month to support the needs of the Bereaved Parents, Grandparents and Siblings in the Oklahoma City area. We produce and distribute a monthly newsletter that reaches close to 400 families. In addition we provide a 24 hour answering service for families to contact us. We also have set up an Oklahoma website in an effort to reach individuals in need of our support at www.nookctcf.com. All of these things are done by volunteers as we are a self supporting Chapter we receive no funds except through donations to help offset the cost of operating the Chapter.
In the spirit of friendship andas a way of honoring the memories of our children, siblings and grandchildren, we will be holding our annual “Walk to Remember” as a Virtual Walk To Remember for the entire month of October. In an effort to help us with our outreach efforts, I respectfully request your consideration of a donation to our Chapter.
