Compassionate Communities COVID-19 Appeal

Communities 1st is a small St Albans and Hertsmere based charity working with their Compassionate Community partners to support the COVID-19 response. We urgently need funds to purchase vital resources to help us coordinate this response. In particular to help us pay our volunteer expenses, and provide them with support and co-ordinate our response to local needs.
How the funding will be spent
Our first priority was raising £500 to cover Zoom licenses, so we can host crucial virtual meetings over the coming months. Any further funds that are raised will go towards coordinating and supporting our volunteers, as well as paying their expenses. Since the first lockdown over 1,278 people have requested support using our Compassionate Community programme – so we need as many volunteers as possible!
How this will benefit the community
Compassionate Community is a grassroots social movement that recognises there are people and organisations supporting each other, who care about one another, and can step in as and when needed, with actual or virtual assistance. Our mission is to be the glue that brings people in Hertsmere and St Albans together, and to provide a place where they can access support as the COVID-19 situation develops over the coming weeks.
