Community Support for Pete's Health and Business

I'm Krystal, one of the owners of the Fort Bidwell Hotel & Restaurant in Fort Bidwell, CA. Shown here is Pete Newell, my life and business partner, as well as the cook for our restaurant. We have been running our restaurant for seven years here in Bidwell, but that will likely be coming to an end.

Pete is out of bypass surgery and in recovery right now. His condition is looking good. He will be in the hospital for recovery for at least the next week.

We came to the Marysville Adventist Hospital on a follow-up referral so Pete could have a cardiac catheterization. We had originally thought it would be an outpatient procedure, possibly overnight if he needed a stent.

That is no longer the case. Pete has had to have a cardiac bypass, and then about a week of hospital recovery followed by at least a month of rehabilitation. They said he will be having to take things easy for the next six months.

I cannot manage the restaurant as it is now on my own with our remaining staff. We are calling on the community and even the kindness of strangers to assist us in closing out our restaurant-related debts. I know this is a huge request, and we are so grateful that be receiving so much support from our community already! Our goal is to have a chance to move forward through this without piling on additional debts.

The amount we have set as our goal is unfortunately only the cost of our current debts.With the situation as it is, it will be the minimum we would need to just have a chance at figuring out what to do next.

We love our community, from serving food, providing space for people to connect, to creating the Annual Haunted House and Easter Egg hunt events. We both greatly appreciate any donation you can give to support Pete through his recovery!

In terms of cost breakdown, right now I am focusing on keeping everything paid up for the moment, I would be happy to share specific numbers for that when I get home, but our request covers Pete's estimate for our current total restaurant debt.
