Join us to make a difference in a rural community in Nigeria
The Africa Rural Interventions Initiative (https://africa-rii.org) is constantly working to improve the quality of life of rural and disadvantaged community dwellers using educational projects, learning platforms and research. Our engagement aims at solving problems related to structural inequality, poverty and illiteracy. Since 2012, we have been providing mentorship, educational materials and exam preparation classes to over 100 students from under-resourced public schools in Ilora Town, Oyo State, Nigeria.
We are planning to establish a COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER (CRC) that will have a library, an ICT facility and training sections. This space will serve as:
- A reading and book lending space for the community
- A skills acquisition center with a mentorship program towards self-reliance for secondary school leavers and non-literate youths
- A safe space and exchange platform for women, children and youths exposed to structural violence.
We are raising the amount of 6.000 Euros to convert the family home of Oladapo Ajayi into a Community Resource Center (CRC). Oladapo is co-founder of Africa-RII, currently doing his PhD at the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS) in Germany. The property is a 5-bedroom apartment completed in 1983, which is strategically located in Ilora Town and has been unoccupied since 2017. The conversion of the building includes:
- Redesign of the building, roof repair and major electric installation
- General paintings and cleaning
- Interior furniture and accessories to fit the purpose of a public Community Resource Center (CRC).
Your contribution…
- … will give birth to the first Resource Center open to the general public in Ilora Town.
- … will help vulnerable children, youth and women to gain dignity in a safe space and set the ground for a purposeful life.
- … will make the living experience in a rural community more attractive.
In appreciation of your support, we will install a donor recognition sign on the building. We will also make a documentary on the development of the Community Resource Center (CRC).
