Community Based Broadband Wireless Internet

Hi, my name is Eric, owner of Oregon Coast Wireless in Tillamook, OR. I am fundraising to continue to build a better wireless internet option for people in our community. Over the past few years, I have set up a wireless network in Tillamook County. During covid, Tillamook County and Nestucca Valley School District helped fund the expansion of the network in South County, but at this time I am funding this on my own. I have been working to get the internet to remote locations like Blaine Road, Sand Lake Road, Highway 22, and other areas around Tillamook County, where the internet is still bad or in some cases non-existent. The infrastructure is not cheap and I do not want to raise our rates beyond what is reasonable. Due to rapid growth during covid, we have created new jobs and incurred new expenses. However, the cost of this infrastructure and ongoing monthly expenses exceeds the revenue generated by our current customer base. Your support would go a long way towards expanding and sustaining this homegrown community-based internet service. We provide internet to many non-profit and low-income families, and in many instances, we are cutting our rate to provide services. Your donations will help us meet our monthly obligations while continuing to build our customer base in the areas we serve and work towards reaching new underserved areas.
