Donation protected
As you may know, Lorrie Mackness passed away peacefully at home June 28th, surrounded by loved ones.

As a tribute to him, my colleagues from the past Trails Committee are collecting for a tree or a bench with a commemorative plaque to be located along one of our trails in East Gwillimbury; so that we may all continue to contemplate the beauty of nature and our connection to it, in his memory.

Any extra funds raised, will be donated to a charity, to be named by his family.

I met Lorrie on the East Gwillimbury Trails Committee about 5 years ago. I was the secretary and he read the minutes with an editor's eye He belonged to many other committees and he kept us informed of relevant events from his other volunteer work. Lorrie was an advocate for soft trails; like me, not a fan of walking on pavement. We used to conduct monthly walks back then and he would always attend, finding a way to fit them into his busy schedule. He gently encouraged everyone who joined to return and he was always so generous of time and spirit, answering questions about the different plants and trees; if he didn’t know, he wold be sure to find out. I miss those walks now; I learned so much from him.

I hope you will join me in this tribute.
If you have have any questions please let me know.

Sincerely,
Adriana
