Committee to Protect Political Volunteering Phase1

Dear Patriot,

A fellow GOP/MAGA volunteer, former military, is in tremendous need of your financial contribution to appeal a court conviction that stems from a day of volunteering for Republican candidates in Minneapolis/Hennepin County, Minnesota. This individual returned to civilian life in early 2018 after serving our country as an army medic during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This individual deserves
our care.

It is incredible how this individual went from Republican volunteer to someone with a misdemeanor as a result of political volunteering. To put it bluntly, no Republican volunteer/victim should ever go through a bizarre episode such as this alone, and we need your help.

After reading this story, we hope and pray that you would contribute $10, $100, or $1000 to a legal defense fund, Committee to Protect Political Volunteering.

A few months after returning to civilian life on a beautiful June summer day in 2018, our volunteer answered the phone call to help a Republican-endorsed congressional candidate at the Pride Festival in Minneapolis.

Through a weird twist of fate, this individual was somehow caught in a fray during a politically-charged swarm of people charged the Log Cabin Republican booth. The haters aggressively bullied their way into the booth adorned with President Trump signs and tore them down.

A video captured by a Democrat operative, who instead of stopping haters from punching Republican volunteers and destroying signs of our President, spent time entrapping and videoing Republicans who were protecting their property and colleagues in the designated Republican space.

After the first round of Minneapolis park police officers disbanded the perpetrators and cleared all bystanders of the melee, two individuals among the perpetrators sought a different group of police officers to present Republican volunteers with citations.

The idea that our volunteer who was ultimately charged with disorderly conduct is preposterous. The notion that the haters who pressed charges and later claimed they were trying to protect Republican volunteers is preposterous. The thought that our friend and fellow volunteer/victim would behave with intent to harm or frighten someone, or to create an intentional disturbance, is contrary to everything we know about the individual.

This legal assault on our Republican volunteer is an assault on all of us.

That June evening, our Republican volunteer was harassed by two operatives, who shouted obscenities and placed a hand on our volunteer’s shoulder to shove a phone within inches of our volunteer’s face in a hostile situation. Our volunteer was a victim who pushed the phone away and demanded the operative get out of our volunteer’s space.

As bizarre as it may seem, days later, our fellow volunteer was charged with assault, and 18 months later, convicted by a jury on two of three counts in Hennepin County.

Unfortunately, our Republican volunteer did not want to burden anyone and silently suffered through most of this process alone.

Now that more are aware, we hope to appeal the case through the generosity of friends and strangers. We ask for your financial contribution to give our volunteer a fighting chance. We have a glimmer of hope that the irregularities involved with the prosecutor’s maneuvering, delays, and continuances could help erase the misdemeanors from our volunteer’s record on appeal.

Would you please stand by this GOP volunteer and former Army medic by contributing $10, $100, or $1000?

We hope to raise enough money to clean the volunteer’s record by either appealing the case based on process and/or remediating and expunging the misdemeanor so that the volunteer can find full-time gainful employment. We need $20,000 to hire an attorney to remediate and expunge the misdemeanor. If we raise more than $20,000 by Friday, January 17, we can hire an attorney to appeal the case instead of using a public defender in the appellate court.

Because of our fellow volunteer’s intense desire for privacy and lack of financial resources, the volunteer opted for a public defender. It is quite astonishing that our volunteer’s sentencing came down the day before as it was revealed that the Hennepin County Public Defender’s office has been operating in a state of fear: Minneapolis Public Defender Suspended Over Culture of Fear (December 25, 2019, Syndicated Local – WCCO – CBS) .

Did the atmosphere of the public defender’s office contribute to the fate of our Republican volunteer? Mary Moriarty, Hennepin County’s top public defender, surprised by suspension (December 23, 2019, StarTribune).

Would you please help us attempt overturn bizarre convictions of a jury? Could you please contribute $10, $100, or $1,000 to help our Republican volunteer to appeal the case?

If so, please use the Go Fund Me Donate button or send a check to Christina Pierson - CPPV, P.O. Box 24231, Edina, MN 55424. At this early stage, please write the check to Christina Pierson - CPPV.
