Synopsis and description:

In my new documentary I go back in Bari (South of Italy) to the same family and community where in 2001 and 2002 I made my first documentary "Japigia Gagi - Roma Stories". I always find them living in hutches.

The main characters are Daniel and Ligia (Roma form Roumania), the couple from the 2002 film, only that now, they’re over 50, have grey hair, and gained some weight. They’re both candidates (for the first time in the history of the city of Bari, perhaps even of the region) for the municipal elections to support the outgoing the Center-left party.

Before knowing the result of the elections (will the Lega win or will the centre-left be reconfirmed to lead the city? And also, who will get more votes, Daniel or the Lega?) We’ll tell the story of their daughter Aida, who in 2002 dreamed of becoming a model. She loved Di Caprio and Laura Pausini. Now, she’s 30 years old and suffers from depression. She just finished serving in prison for robbery and wants to divorce her husband who’s absent and chauvinist, but she struggles with the hard patriarcal rules of her family.

We’ll also show the growing fascism and racism in Italy. It will be a parte dedicated to the Holocaust of the Roma. We will use songs, pictures and footage from  The Museum of Holocaust of United States https://www.ushmm.org

The issus of the film  is that of the Resistance.   The Resistance of the this community against our world (often raciste) and the Resistance of Aida against his community (often male-dominate).  Despite the sad events, this films has moments very sweeties, funny, hopeful. Quoting Pier Paolo Pasolini, with this film we go where the dignity be reborn where there is no more dignity.

The old images from 2001 and 2002 will also be used in this film, which will provide a sort of flash back.
