Come Together for Cory Sheen

This week, we were sad to lose our dear father, husband, brother, son, cousin and friend, Cory Sheen. Cory passed away on Friday July 14th after surviving a cardiac arrest on Monday morning. He is survived by his wife, Pam, and his 4 children. Their children are Corbin (5), Thatcher (2) and Maggie (1). His other son, Duncan (14) from Georgia was spending the summer with them when this tragedy occurred.

Cory was born to Robert and Leilani (McTague) Sheen on April 6, 1979 in American Fork, Utah. He had a special place in his heart for his Mom, proudly calling himself a “momma’s boy.”  Cory loved sports.  He was an avid fan of the Utah State Aggies, the Oakland Raiders and the Utah Jazz.  He was most passionate about basketball.  He loved to watch basketball, but most of all, he loved to play.  No injury would keep him away.  When he was a teenager he broke one elbow playing basketball and 2 weeks later, shattered the other.  That is when he rightfully earned the nickname “Elbows,” and was proud of it.  His crooked arms and “bionic” elbow didn’t stop him and he always commented on how his Dad taught him everything he knew about basketball.

Cory was a very family oriented man and loved all his siblings so much.  He served an LDS Mission in the Indiana Indianapoilis Mission. He married his true love and soulmate, Pam on June 20, 2007, after meeting online and falling in love over one 7 hour phone call.  On their 5 year anniversary, they were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Draper Temple.  They have 3 beautiful children together and one amazing son from a previous marriage.  He loves each of them so much, they were his pride and joy.  They all have Cory’s love for basketball, his fidgety toes, his love for family and they have his kind, sensitive spirit with a little hint of his sarcasm and his great sense of humor.

For those that would like to attend, Cory's viewing and funeral will be held this week. Cory's viewing will be at Crescent 5th Ward, 1050 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah on Tuesday, July 18, from 6-8 pm. His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. in the same location preceded by a viewing from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19. There are no words to express our loss.

We know that nothing can make up for the loss of Cory, but we feel like one way that we can help is through monetary support for the funeral and residual medical expenses. Cory left behind 4 young children, and we'd like to provide as much as we can for them after the loss of their father. Anything that you would be willing to donate will be a huge help to Pam and her children. We'd like to thank you in advance for your generosity.
