We now have a website that provides more details about Sharon and her Journey. You can Access it here: Friendsofnahsha
Sharon Wachuka, a U.S. Citizen and a graduate of Cal Poly Pomona in psychology, worked with autistic children while pursuing a career in singing/song-writing under the name of “Nahsha.” Sharon traveled to Kenya, the homeland of her family, to study and incorporate African music into her own.
On July 12 in Nairobi, Sharon was brutally attacked. She was found unconscious in a coma by the side of a road, suffering from a severely broken jaw, traumatic brain injury, and a collapsed lung. Sharon has undergone a 12-hour surgery to repair her jaw, and is just beginning a long road to neurological recovery. Her care has been overseen and provided in Nairobi by many of the best doctors. She is not yet well enough to travel home.
In this incredibly difficult time, Sharon is in need of our prayers, well wishes, and especially financial support. Sharon’s recovery will be on-going, lengthy, and costly. We humbly appeal to you to consider donating to Sharon’s recovery efforts. The funds contributed so far have been used to pay for her medical care in Nairobi. Many more donations will be needed to transport Sharon back to California and provide the long-term care she needs.
As her friends and family, we are grateful for the uplifting support shown to Sharon and her family. This message is from Sharon’s mother, Veronica Mukui: “We continue to thank God for the work He has done for Sharon. Your resolute and unwavering commitment to stand with me during this hard time in thoughts, prayers, encouragement, and support have kept me steadfast. I always tell my daughter how lucky she is to have people like you, who really care and love her with all your hearts. She might not be able to communicate at this time but I'm sure she has heard every word I have told her and is deeply appreciative of your efforts. On behalf of Sharon, please accept our sincere gratitude.”
Veronica Mukui, Sharon's mother and the beneficiary of this fundraising campaign, is deeply grateful for the time you took to read Sharon’s story and your generosity.
