COLUMBUS COOK ART STUDIO

My dad, Columbus Cook, is a 53 year old devoted husband, dad, artist, military member of Georgia Air National Guard and friend to many others. As many of you may not know, my dad was born and raised in Wetumpka, Alabama. He grew up there as an artist and licensed hairstylist. In 1990, he joined the Alabama Army National Guard and served in Desert Storm in 1990-1991 as a Water Purification Specialist. Then in 1996 he eventually moved to Georgia and became a member of the Georgia Air National Guard. In 2001, he created his company Columbus Cook Studios, Inc where he had worked for years helping multiple architecture/engineer firms, interior design firms and real estate developers bring project ideas on paper and develop many to life existence in Georgia, other states throughout the US and some within other countries around the world. After being out of the military in 2003, he returned in 2008 providing service as a Construction Manager, Designer and Volunteer First Sergeant.

In 2017, my dad worked in Washington DC on helping to develop a military event for about 200 soldiers. At the end of one of his work days, he noticed that he could not remember how to drive back to the hotel he had been staying at for the past 3 weeks. An hour later he figured out how to find the hotel.  He only felt that he had just been working hard and simply needed to rest from work once he returned home in Smyrna, Georgia. Several weeks later after he returned back to Georgia, he contacted a civilian insurance company to expand his insurance coverage for a military deployment he was scheduled to attend in another country in 2018. That set of tests labeled him as a Type-II Diabetic and he was denied to deploy.

On 31 May 2018, based on how he was still feeling, my dad was advised by his military commander to utilize assistance from a coworker to travel 2 hours from Robins Air Force Base to Emory Hospital in Atlanta to receive medical service. Following his commander’s advice, my dad’s life was medically saved by a 4 hour surgery on 1 June 2018. He was diagnosed with brain cancer. Since then my dad has been on radiation, chemotherapy and cancer studies. He has been advised by his primary doctor at Emory to focus on his God given talent of painting and drawing.

My dad has become a US Military Veteran, spent many years of his life helping other individuals, families and in 2016 he went to the country of Armenia leading a team of military troops to redevelop dilapidated facilities/housing for elderly people. After providing good deeds to many people over 30 years of his life, my dad has been working to finish his basement in order to have a dedicated space for his god given talent. We would love for this project to be completed so he can focus primarily on his daily relationship to God, painting, drawing and listening to his heavy metal music!!! No donation is too small.  Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.
