Columbus Caudle

“Wrong place-wrong time” couldn’t be a more factual statement for Columbus Caudle on the night of June 1st!! He had just graduated high school and signed to play D1 basketball at Alabama State University less than 2 weeks before, and finally, life was going as it should for him. He was raised by a single mother who went above and beyond to ensure her children had what they needed. The short backstory is simple; his mother passed away in September, and he completed his high school career with the help of some exceptional individuals in Georgia. His hometown is Indianapolis, and he was making a short 1-week visit here to watch his best friend graduate and visit the family he has longed to see. They had been invited to a graduation party, which seemed fun, a good area, nice neighborhood, and towards the end of the evening, just as he was getting ready to leave, someone outside the house opened fire. As gunshots rang out, everyone ran, including Columbus, who was randomly hit in the back at T4 severing the spinal cord. He has a long road ahead, but he is no stranger to adversity. I have watched him grow into an amazing young man that has already overcome so much. He works as hard in therapy as he did on the court. I want to raise enough money to get him into a rehabilitation hospital in Georgia or Florida. There is not information known about spinal cord injuries to say he will be wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. If his mother were alive, she would do everything to get him the best care, and I must also advocate for that. If there is any amount you could contribute, it would be appreciated; any prayers, and please share his GoFundMe, because I know there is power in numbers and prayer. I believe he can beat adversity and overcome his injury; he just needs the opportunity to prove it.
