Colt is racing Finke in Australia

Hey everyone!

My name is Colt Brinkerhoff and I race ATV's professionally. In 2013 and 2014 I won the AMA National Hare and Hound ATV Championship. I also won the 2014 MRAN Night Race Series and Runner up of the ATV Pro Class of the Best in the Desert Series with my teammate Cody Mitchell. I have had a stellar last two years and I am always looking to improve my racing and branch out to new avenues.

When I started following racing when I was a wee lad, I had dreams of racing around the world like my hero's in the magazines. I've always had that sense of adventure and wanting to see the world. While working for Fasst Company/Flexx Handlebars has allowed me to make much of these dreams come true already with industry companies, we decided to try for something BIG. We started talking about the possibility of doing the Finke Desert Race in Australia and judging by the terrain; it looked like my style of racing! It’s very fast, filled with miles of sand whoops. The Tatts Finke Desert Race is an off road, multi terrain two-day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quads through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community. The race is held each year on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in June. “Finke” as it is commonly known, is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the Northern Territory and has the reputation of being one of the most difficult offroad courses in one of the most remote places in the world. It pulls racers and teams from the entire world so it's a very unique event in an amazing territory.  Here is a link to the Finke Desert Racing website: http://www.finkedesertrace.com.au/

Fasst Company has a great distributor there; The Quad Squad, owned and operated by a fellow ATV racer Adam Siemensma.  Chris Tidwell, VP of Fasst Company contacted him to see if we could make it happen. There was no hesitation from Adam as he quickly offered his bike and have it completely ready for me when I get there. I was so pumped for the opportunity, I can't thank Fasst Company and Adam enough. I will be sending my Elka/Teixiera Suspension along with my Maxxis Tires/Tire Blocks/Goldspeed wheels down to make things familiar to me.  I am very excited because I may be the only American ATV Racer that will be making this journey to race. I will represent our country in true American fashion and try to bring home a win! I have been working very hard with my training and I can already seeing it pay off as we won the Best in the Desert Henderson 250 last weekend.

Seeing that this is a very long distance to travel, along with the fees of racing (flights, fuel, entry fee, lodging, ect.) I am asking for help. I have estimated with the help of Adam of The Quad Squad that it will take around $6,500 USD to make this happen. I know this is a long shot and it was a hard decision to make a gofundme account as I know how hard it is to make a buck these days. That's why I am going to be giving back in a few but very amazing ways.

The biggest way I want to give back is to a high school friend that is also in need of help; Divee Brunson. She has a rare disease type 3 Machado-Joseph Disease. Machado-Joseph Disease is a rare autosomal, dominantly inherited neurodegenerative disease that causes progressive cerebellar ataxia, which results in a lack of muscle control and coordination of the upper and lower extremities. Having a breakthrough surgery could allow her to make it past 30's (presently 26 years old). Any money that I raise past the $6,500 I will be donating directly to her $12,000 goal to get the surgery to allow her to live.  To get to know more about her story clink this link: http://www.gofundme.com/Help-Devee

Along with this, I will be giving signed posters and "What the Finke?" t shirts that Rebellious Status Clothing is helping out with certain donations. Here is the breakdown:

Donate $10 get a signed poster

Donate $30 get a "What the Finke?" T shirt and a signed poster.

Donate any amount and be put in for bigger prizes that will be announced later.

I am also going to try to work with local companies to give away a few bigger prizes when we reach the goal. I really appreciate everyone just looking at this and helping me reach my goals by helping with anything they can.  I always try to give back the best way I can.

Thank you very much everyone!
