My name is Jarrod Byer and I am a proud, single Dad of my beautiful 8 year old son. This past June I got the shock of my life when a routine medical exam revealed that I had a tumor mass in my lower colon. After many further tests, I have had to live and deal with the
fact that I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 colo-rectal cancer and that smaller, secondary tumors have been found in both of my lungs. I am not really the kind of person who feels sorry for myself but this situation has hit me very hard. I have been fighting this disease now for many months with the constant support of my loved ones around me. I have just finished intensive radiation therapy with chemotherapy for 5 weeks and I have responded well to the chemotherapy that I was given previously last summer into the winter. With the help of some close friends of mine, they raised almost $8,000 dollars towards the total goal. I am facing a very difficult road ahead seeing that I will need several surgeries in order to rid my body of these tumors. I have no choice but to try and raise funds through this campaign in order to put something aside for my son for his future and to keep living a normal life as my Doctors treating me have removed me from any work for the next year or two as a result of my medical condition and treatments. I am a fighter and I will not give up until I win this battle for me, my beautiful son and my family and all my friends and others who have come out to support me during this unbelievably difficult time in my life. Thank you so much to the people who have already donated to my fund and have helped me to breathe a little easier. I still need to reach my goal and any further donations will be incredibly appreciated by me as I continue to fight this battle to live normally again. To anyone else that is battling cancer as I am, please stay positive and don't give up and just stay strong, you can win this fight!!
