Cancer is a pain in the Ass, part 3

Donation protected
I know we have been down this road before, and now as then, I really hate having to do this.  Two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with cancer related to my colon cancer for the 3rd time.   Since I just had the surgery in October, with the extreme chemotherapy during surgery, the cancer should not have come back this quickly, if at all.  My oncologist says that we are dealing with surgery resistant metastatic colon cancer, for which there is currently no cure.  My options at this point are to research the genetic makeup of the cancer to see if there is some anomoly that they can pinpoint, clinical trials if I qualify, or long term oral or IV chemo.

I had to quit my job last year, and was hoping to find a new teaching job this fall, but that is now not an option.  We are still dealing with medical bills from my last surgery, doctor visits etc..  Now we will have new bills, plus, if I am involved in a clinical trial, we will have expenses related to being located wherever that happens.  Thankfully we do have insurance through Lee's job, and that really helps a great deal.

As I write this, I am sitting in a hospital room, where I have been for the past 4 days, and will probably be at least one or two more days.   I am in the hospital right now, because I am unable to eat solid food, and have been this way for several months.  We are still trying to figure out what the cause of that is, but it is likely some byproduct of the surgery from October.  Until we get my eating situation settled, we can't start dealing with the new cancer diagnosis, so I am hoping this gets figured out soon.

As I have said before, I do not want anyone to feel obligated to help our family finanacially, we get so much help from so many people in so many other ways!  If you find that you can help, know that we truly appreciate it.  I will use this to update as I find things out.
