Collie pup needs surgery on two deformed legs.

Donation protected
Over 75 collies were seized from a back yard breeder.   I volunteered at our local animal shelter and agreed to care for a pregnant collie and then care for her and her babies.   She was my 3rd pregnant mom and Freya was the last pup of a combined total of 20 pups my family and I cared for in just 1 years time.   Because mom (we named Nellie) was badly bred herself and of horribly poor nutrition,  her babies were affected.   Freya was born with both back legs rotated inward,  similar to swimmer's leg.   Thankfully with much determination on her part and a little help from her people,  they seemed to have mostly rotated back into a normal position.   She can run a bit and play but she tires quickly and her hind legs still splay out at times.   We were so excited,  it seemed the worst was behind her and she could be adopted with her siblings when the time came.   Freya is just 5 months old, and a couple months ago we noticed her front legs started to show signs of trouble.   They appear to bow out, her bones are all messed up in both her front legs.   Because of these deformations her front end is lower than her back.  This will cause serious trouble with her spine, shorten her life expectancy and her quality of life will be filled with pain and discomfort.   When the time came to adopt everyone out to new families,  we couldn't, in good conscious let her be adopted.   I delivered her and I needed to know she would get the care required for her to live a good, long, pain free life.    So we adopted her.   We brought her to a specialist and they feel her best option is to remove a part of her ulna in both legs, so the bones that are curved will straighten out as she continues to grow.   She is such a sweet baby and we are hopeful this will be the only surgery she needs.   It's possible if this doesn't go the way the Dr. Hopes it will,  another surgery in her future will be needed.   Hopefully not, but one problem at a time :) We thank you and are humbled by any help given to Freya and her family.
