College Journalism Trip

Hi, my name is Jorey, and I am 16 years old. I do karate, and I love to read and write.

A few days ago, I got a letter from George Mason University saying I've been selected to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference (WJMC).  I love writing and research, so this is a really big and amzing experience for me to have! Unfortunately, it costs $2000 just to attend, and that doesn't include the plane ticket there and back, or other expenses. They provide a dorm, breakfast, and dinner.

My family is just barely getting by, with my mom working two jobs, and child support barely covering the rest of the expenses. I've tried to raise money by babysitting, but it's still not enough to make even a down payment on the tuition. I need the money by December 16, 2016. If I can't raise the money in time, I can't experience a really amazing oppotunity for me and a career in journalism. If I can attend something this important, I'd be the happiest person in the world. I'd get a college experience, the chance to travel to one of the most important places in the USA, and a major step forward in a journalism career.
