College Fund for Steve Ward's Kids

Donation protected
Steve Ward, husband, father, sociologist, author, and friend passed away on Friday December 29, 2017 at the age of 55 after a long battle with cancer.  Tragically, he leaves behind a loving family:  his wife Karen, and their three daughters who are in or nearing college age:  Kinsey (19), Kesslyn (16), and Kylie (13).

In deepest sympathy, colleagues of Steve Ward have created this GoFundMe donation website so that anyone so moved can contribute to the imminent college expenses of Steve and Karen's three children.  We think this fundraiser would be especially meaningful to Steve not only because it's meant to embrace his family, who were Steve's whole world, with love, but also because Steve's professional life revolved around a  career as a sociologist at Western Connecticut State University for the last 22 years, wherein his scholarly research and writings were focused acutely on fending off attacks on the quality of higher education.  His most recent book (2014) is entitled Neoliberalism and the Global Restructuring of Knowledge and Education and is published by Routledge.  He also has published many small and very accessible articles on the topic such as this piece in his Union /AAUP Newsletter and these articles in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

We hope to raise enough funds to make Kinsey, Kesslyn and Kylie's efforts at pursuing their educational dreams all the more easy, if not seamless.  We know this would mean a lot to Steve.
