College for New Immigrants

Donation protected
Help these new immigrants reach their goal of attending college!

These exceptional college-bound high school seniors qualify to take English classes at a community college while they complete high school!   Despite surviving extreme hardship and interrupted education from civil war,  political repression, death or separation of family members, this bright bunch has persevered in high school in the United States. They are pursuing their dreams to become nurses, doctors, and engineers.

They now attend Wellstone International High School, which has a partnership with Minneapolis College (formerly MCTC),  where advanced students can simultaneously enroll in high-level English classes.  Students who complete these classes have strong chances of later admission to multiple colleges with scholarships.  Last year alone, the Wellstone graduates who had completed Minneapolis College classes got roughly $350,000 worth of college scholarships.

These 5 students came to the United States at 18 or 19 years old, and are working hard to learn English while earning a high school diploma. While a typical high school student would be able to take the Minneapolis College classes for free, there is no funding to for these students, because of their older age.

This is where you come in! Can you help?  Even a donation of $5 will help these students start on the pathway to higher education!

They deserve this chance!
