<div>Last Sunday, one of my brother’s dearest and closest college friend, a young student-athlete from Jamaica, suffered a serious head injury while playing soccer here in Tifton. He now needs emergency skull surgery this week in Macon.

<div>Doctors discovered that a portion of his skull must be removed and replaced with a metal plate and screws. If the surgery is delayed, that part of his skull could begin to fuse improperly, leaving a permanent dent and most critically leaving his brain unprotected if he were to suffer another injury. This surgery is absolutely necessary for his safety and long-term health. Being far from home and family, he’s facing this very difficult time with limited support, and we’re asking for help to make sure he gets the care he urgently needs. He is far from home, facing a major surgery, and needs our help.

<div>The surgery will take 3-4 hours and require at least 1 night, possibly 2, in the hospital. Recovery will take 3–4 months, which means he cannot return to soccer until next fall and will miss this season. As for school, we still don’t know how that will work for him. For an athlete and dedicated student, this is a heartbreaking setback.

<div>All funds will go towards his medical bills, medications, any follow ups, and traveling expenses. He wasn’t given an exact amount but they did say it would cost over $10,000.
