How many times do you walk past someone on the street with no place to go, with no food or money, and just carry on with your day without a second thought?
Homelessness is a problem throughout the world and is something that nobody should be put through or have to deal with. This time of year proves to be increasingly difficult for those without a place to stay, food, family or support. Seeing families shop for presents, loved ones sat round a table enjoying a warm meal and not having this themselves is very challenging to deal with and should not be happening. You will be waking up Christmas morning to open up gifts, sharing drinks on new years' or celebrating another birthday with your close ones. But on the other hand we have people trying to find shelter away from the rain for the night, getting kicked out of doorways and spending every holiday alone.
Connection Support is a charity based around Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire which help communities in many areas and one of which is homelessness; they provide accommodation and safe places for people in difficult positions and troubled backgrounds to go to. Working in the industry gives you an insight as to just how difficult it is for the homeless to get back on there feet, find a place to stay and get their life back on track. This charity provides this opportunity and gives them hope in these uncertain times. Having had an experience with this charity in the past we know the money goes to a good cause and helps those in need.
To help raise money, the team at College and County will be running 1000 kilometers over the whole of January to match the goal of £1000, we will be tracking our progress and this will be continuously updated all over our social media to encourage donations.
