TO THE PITTSFORD & OSWEGO COMMUNITIES:
For the past few years Colleen McCready (MHS class of '07 and Oswego class of '11) has been living and working on the island of Saint John. As you're well aware, Hurricane Irma is attacking with a vengeance, leaving a path of destruction behind. Unfortunately, Colleen was on the island when Irma hit Saint John because she was unable to evacuate. Recently her mom, Karen McCready, was able to receive a brief call from Colleen before the connection was dropped in which time she learned that Colleen has lost almost everything. Her apartment is uninhabitable so she had to search for shelter, she has lost her belongings/possessions, and she no longer has any food. To our knowledge she is as safe as she can be in these circumstances and the military is sending helicopters to evacuate all the residents on the island. They are rescuing children, pregnant women, and the elderly first so it is unclear how long it will take for her to return home. When she does, however, she will need to rebuild her life from the ground up. For this reason, I have started a GoFundMe account to raise money for her as she tries to get back on her feet. For those of you who know Colleen you know she is an incredibly caring, loyal, and selfless friend, and she would drop anything and everything to help anyone in need. So I'm asking you all to reciprocate that notion and donate to the GoFundMe account. Whether it's $5/$10/$100, any amount will go a long way and I know it will mean the world to her to return home to such love and support from her friends and family. Once I have closed this account I will give Colleen's mother access as beneficiary so she will be able to withdraw the money to give to Colleen.
