In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Colin Wissmar Foundation. We are establishing a foundation to support those struggling with addiction and grief.  Please note that the gofundme website operates based on donations and will request an optional donation of 10% to support their platform. It's possible to remove the optional 10% donation to the gofundme website if you wish.

Colin loved to skateboard, show off his impeccable vintage swag, travel the world with his family, be the big brother to his many friends and continually check in on everyone close to him.

Colin's mission in life was to help others. As a director of sober houses, Colin loved his work of helping save others from the throes of addiction and considered himself a slayer of demons. He touched the lives of the many in recovery that he encountered while fighting his own battle with addiction for many years.

That battle never stopped Colin from sharing his radiant smile with everyone around him. That magnetic smile was part of his way of making everybody feel like a somebody. A true angel, he saw the potential in those that others saw as broken. Colin's enormous impact on everyone who knew him will never be forgotten.

The quintessential hype man, Colin was the mayor and the king of New Haven, elevating every situation from birthday celebrations to his newest venture in real estate, which he transformed from a cutthroat environment into a brotherhood. Not a room could be entered without Colin's knowing someone who loved him. And everyone who loves him wants him to know that as much as we will miss him, "we got this."

In addition to his parents, Colin is survived by his sister Kristen Wissmar and her husband Alexander Orsi and his maternal grandparents Robert and Nancy Ferraro of Westwood, MA, as well as his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dave and Dorothy Wissmar.

A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cascade Fine Catering, 480 Sherman Ave., Hamden, CT.
