</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Tout commence en France, en 1945.</strong>
</div>
</div>
<div>Elle grandira sans connaître son père.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="null" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/107681877_178837791768683_r.jpg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Puis l'ADN a changé notre histoire.</strong>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
John Lawson à destination de New York.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="null" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/107681877_1788377956681735_r.jpg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><strong>Aller là-bas.</strong>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="null" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/107681877_1788377996722728_r.jpg" width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Pourquoi 25 000 € ?</strong>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div>✈️ <strong>Vols France - États-Unis : environ 7 000 €</strong>
</div>
<div><strong> Hébergements : environ 6 000 €</strong>
</div>
<div><strong> Location d'un véhicule : environ 2 500 €</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>⛽ Carburant et déplacements : environ 1 200 €</strong>
</div>
</div>
<div><strong> Assurances et formalités : environ 1 000 €</strong>
</div>
<div><strong> Archives, visites et recherches : environ 800 €</strong>
</div>
</div>
<div><strong>Budget prévisionnel total : 25 000 €</strong>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong> FOR OUR AMERICAN FRIENDS</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>After nearly 80 years, Colette finally learned the identity of her American father. Now we hope to take her to Virginia.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Florence, and Colette is my mother.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our story began in France in 1945, when my grandmother met a young American soldier in the Soissons area. A few months later, on March 1, 1946, Colette was born in Paris.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She grew up never knowing her father.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For almost 80 years, half of her story remained a mystery. When I began searching, I didn't even have a reliable name to start with.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then DNA changed everything.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Through DNA testing, GEDmatch, genealogy, French and American archives, military records and many hours of research, I slowly began to follow the clues.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But I could never have done it alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>People in the United States whom I had never met gave their time to help me. They searched records, explored family connections and helped me piece together a story that had been missing from our family for generations.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Eventually,<strong> we identified Colette's father: Vivian Miller</strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For the first time in her life, my mother had a name. And a face.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have since discovered more about his military service, his American family and his life in the United States.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We also learned that on January 5, 1946, less than two months before Colette was born, he left Le Havre, France, aboard the S.S. John Lawson, bound for New York.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>One life was returning to America. Another was about to begin in France.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The next step: Virginia</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In 2027, we hope to take Colette to Virginia. She will be 81 years old.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We want to make this journey together as a family, across several generations, to visit the places connected to her father and her American family, continue our research and, whenever possible, meet some of the people this extraordinary search has connected us with.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is much more than a vacation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is the final chapter of a family search that began with a silence almost 80 years ago.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why €25,000?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are raising €25,000 to help fund this family and memorial journey from France to the United States.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds will contribute to airfare, accommodation, transportation throughout Virginia, insurance and travel formalities, as well as expenses directly related to our research.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our family will also contribute financially to the journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If we don't reach the full goal, every donation will still bring Colette closer to Virginia, and we will adapt the trip to the resources available.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And if you can't donate, sharing our story can help just as much.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Some of the most important discoveries in this search happened simply because the right person saw our story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>So please consider sharing this fundraiser, especially with friends and family in Virginia and across the United States.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You never know who might recognize a name, a place, a photograph or another piece of our story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for helping us complete this journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Florence,
</div>
<div>for Colette and our whole family
