Coles Medical Treatment Fund.

Cole was born on May 24 2017, He immediatley started treatment for his low blood sugars. He was having a hard time breastfeeding Brandi and the doctors noticed his tongue would always go to the side. Her Doctor then noticed he was slightly bigger on the one side. He was sent to Lions Gate Hospital and placed in the NICU for 24 hours. He was monitored at LGH and hisblood sugars improved within a few days. Cole saw the pediatrician at LGH about the size of his body, Brandi was then informed Cole had Hemihypertrophy (Hemilyperplasia) is an abnormal asymmetry between the left and right sides of the body occurring when one part of the body grows faster. They saw another Pediatrician and were told that they believed Cole had BWS - Beckwith Weidiemn Syndrome. BWS is characterized by large body size, enlarged organs, macroglossia (enlarged tongue) midline abdominal wall defects (omphalocele/exomphalos, umblicial hernia, diastasis recti), neonatal hypoglycemia and greatly increased risk of childhood cancer, particularly liver and kidney tumours. They recently saw the genetics team at Childrens Hospital where they confirmed he does have BWS. Cole will be screened every three months tumours. There is also a possibility of Cole needing a tongue reduction. There is a great hospital in Toronto that specializs in children with BWS, So Brandi is hoping to raise enough money to travel to Toronto and have further testing done for Cole. This is a very hard time for Brandi and her husbad Dana. They are very close family friends of ours and they are needing our support more than ever!! Any little bit will help this beautiful family get wee Cole the treatments he needs!
