Cole's Ice Cream/Tenderloins Fire Rebuild

Saturday April 6th around 2:30pm, a staple in the Slater community fell victim to a devastating fire. If you are from the area (or just passing through) and have stopped at Cole's Ice Cream & Tenderloin you know the positive impact and story behind this unique gem owned by David Sturdy.
Impossible to miss at the corner of 6th Avenue (HWY 210) and Linn St, Cole's is not only home to excellent food and conversation, but holds a greater meaning to the family. Their famous tenderloin is the private recipe of Brandon Sturdy, his son. Brandon was a Special Operations Marine and was tragically killed in action in Iraq in 2004 at the age of just 19. David keeps not only Brandon's memory and recipe alive today, but he also does all he can to help our Veterans and donates regularly in honor of Brandon by giving a part of the profits to The Wounded Warrior Project every month.
To enter is to walk into another time and world really. To explain it to someone that has not experienced it, the conversations with David or just seeing his delight in serving, learning and growing with his patrons is difficult to articulate. But joy and honor is always felt when you stop at Cole's in more than one way.
I am not related to David or Cole's in any other way except a local area resident, huge fan of the food, atmosphere and conversation, and a fellow small business owner whom has personally felt this loss in my own way. I know he will do everything he can to rebuild and be better than ever. He is looking for anyone that would like to volunteer to help him rebuild the structures affected. I hope you will join me in supporting this rebuild, as it is way more than just a place to grab a bite. It means a little something different to everyone.
