Cohen was born 15 weeks early on 21.02.2015 as you all know cohen has cerebral palsy effecting all four limbs of variable levels, he has uncontrolled epilepsy, dystonia, vocal cord palsy, he is fed through a tube in his belly (gastrostomy) for 20 hours a day due to an unsafe swallow, if we were to feed cohen via mouth everything he swallows goes in to his lungs, he has a condition called central apnea meaning he stops breathing many times a day and night requiring from gentle stimulation to full resuscitation. He is also on oxygen 24/7 of between 1.5-3ltrs depending on his saturation levels. Cohen often requires suctioning as the secretions we naturally swallow builds up in his mouth and throats causing him to choke. So that's a little about cohen.
So I'm guessing you want to know why we are aiming to fund raise, well it's for this amazing piece of equipment this is an R82 Kudo wheelchair as you can see from the photo cohen sits beautifully in this and is able to look around freely, he will also as he gets bigger be able to self propel a little. The R82 Kudo has many features the main one being a built in tilt meaning we will be able to give cohen all the medical intervention he requires while traveling in his chair.
And if anyone would be willing to help by doing their own fundraiser then please..... we would be forever greatful.
Cohen is our son, and as a parent we will do anything possible to keep him safe... as you do with your children.... no matter what the cost may be xx thank you!!
