Coffee for Cancer Center Nurses

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I'm raising funds to buy UW Health Cancer Center  nurses coffee. My cancer story started in December 2021 when, at age 37, I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple-negative breast cancer. This aggressive and often difficult to treat cancer was a surprise for me as I had no prior symptoms. Throughout surgery, chemo, and now radiation the cancer center nurses at UW Health have gone above and beyond in providing comfort, kindness, and compassion. Chemo was especially rough for me with two anaphylactic reactions. A nurse stayed by my side all day, making sure I was safe and comfortable. Now in daily radiation they make sure I'm comfortable each step of the way.

This process has been emotionally draining. I started a blog early on to process my emotions and provide support to others going through a similar situation. When radiation started I decided to do something fun. Operation Radioactive Caffeine was born. During my 20 rounds of daily radiation I'm visiting a different local coffee shop and reviewing them on my blog. This project distracts me from the fatigue of daily trips to the hospital and spreads business to local shops.

After my treatment is concluded I would like to buy the UW Health Cancer Center nurses a coffee to thank them for their unparalleled compassion and stellar care they show each and every day. All donations raised will be collected and I will purchase coffee or lunch for the staff in August 2022 to celebrate my birthday.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and donating.
