Cody and Madee

For those of you who do not know...this is my cousin, Cody, and his wife Madee. Cody and Madee were newly married on September 1st, 2018. The wedding was gorgeous, the love...abundant. The beautiful couple left to St. Lucia on the honeymoon of a lifetime. When they returned, Cody, who has battled Crohn’s disease for most of his life, fell ill. Madee took him to their local urgent care and they were sent to the ER almost immediately. After being admitted to Scott and White in College Station and several rounds of blood work, CT scans and MRIs, Cody was ultimately diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. 

We are devastated. He is headed to MD Anderson for further care. Surgery is scheduled for October 2 in attempt to remove the tumor. The left lobe of the liver, left branches of the biliary tree, a portion of the common bile duct, an enlarged lymph node, and the gallbladder will all be removed. A loop of his small bowel will be taken and used to reconstruct the bile duct. After recovery, it will be evaluated if chemotherapy is needed at that time.

There is a slim chance that there is arterial involvement on the right side, and if so, the procedure could not continue and a nonsurgical treatment plan would then be followed. We are hopeful. We are praying. We are asking for a miracle. 

Madee is a nurse and Cody, a plant operator. He will soon be busy fighting his toughest fight.  Our hope, as a family, is to be able to help ease their massive financial burden and for Madee to remain by his side.

I am never one to ask for help, but I’ve seen what a difference a community can make. Especially one like ours. Please help Cody BTHO of cancer. He is a fighting Texas Aggie, after all!
