Coco's Survival Fund

(Update as of 11/8/23) Hello again everyone! thank you so so much for all the support you've shown Coco. I wanted to do a small update about the current situation. Coco's due date is in March. As of now she is attempting to get a job that accommodates her needs. Recently the brakes in her car stopped working while she was driving; thankfully she was unharmed but the continual issues with the car have made it difficult for her to get to and from interviews/jobs and to pick her boyfriend up from his new job. Her car has been in dire need of repair for years now and has been held together with the efforts of friends with some car smarts but that can only go so far. I am continuing the gofundme as Coco's pregnancy continues as her need for support is still great and will only increase as we get closer to the baby being here. All donations go toward bills, preparation for the baby and car repairs. Thank you, thank you so much to everyone who has shared and donated. <3

Hi, everyone! About a year ago I ran a gfm for my friend and neighbor Coco for repairs to her car. That gfm is inactive and I am starting this new one to hopefully give Coco some much needed support. Coco is a wonderful & caring young Black mother who has been going through a difficult time since the pandemic began. She is a type 1 diabetic who is currently in recovery from cocaine addiction and who has struggled to find sustainable employment since the pandemic unemployment benefits ended in late 2021. Currently, the only income in the house is from Coco's boyfriend Kenny.

In recent months, things have once again become overwhelmingly difficult. Coco's mother, who previously shared some of the caretaking responsibility for Coco's daughter Aliah, is currently working full time to care for Coco's grandmother who is sick with cancer. As Coco has adjusted to having her daughter full time and tried to find steady work, bills and rent have accumulated, and pre-existing issues with her car (front brakes, etc) have gotten worse. Two weeks ago, Coco and her boyfriend and daughter moved to a more affordable apartment; at the same time, Coco became very ill and spent a week in the hospital.

I am hoping to ease up some of the financial pressure that has built up over the past few months for Coco and her family. Here is a rough breakdown of the stated goal:

-Move-in deposit for new apartment: $1300

-Uhaul: $80

-Transfer DTE to new apartment: $310

-Back rent for old apartment: $4500

Hi everyone! Coco wanted me to tell everyone how thankful she is for all of the help everyone has given so far. She asked me to update and start sharing this again because of new developments in her life. Coco is pregnant, which she and her boyfriend are very happy about! But unfortunately due to her diabetes and other complications she is a high risk pregnancy; she was recently in the hospital for several days with severe exhaustion and bleeding, what she initially thought was a miscarriage. Thankfully the baby is okay but Coco will not be able to work for at least the first trimester of her pregnancy so she has once again fallen behind on bills. She also is hoping to fundraise for for preparation for the new baby. We've shown up for Coco so many times, and I'm so thankful for it, and I am really hoping we can do it again so she can have some security during her pregnancy and going into having a new baby.
