Help Coco Beat His Thyroid Cancer So He Can Live a Full and Healthy Life, a Life Every Child Deserves.
My 8 yr. old nephew, Albert “Coco” Dorado Sun, III was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer, an extremely rare cancer among children, in November 2018. His thyroid was removed in January 2019, but Coco's fight for life continues because the terrible cancer has spread to his lymph nodes and lungs. Coco will soon undergo radioactive iodine treatment and, if that goes well, he will need hormone replacement therapy for the rest of his life to replace the function of his thyroid.
Coco lives in Davao City, Philippines and is raised by Rachel, a single mother who urgently needs financial assistance to pay for his medical bills and lifetime of hormone replacement therapy. Rachel works full-time, but earns less than $3,500 dollars a year, which is barely enough to support Coco and his siblings, 11 yr. old Ysa and 4 yr. old Ken, who is autistic. Even before Coco was diagnosed with cancer, Rachel could not afford to pay for Ken’s autism therapy. Now the completely unexpected and devastating news that her sweet Coco has metastatic thyroid cancer requiring major short-term and long-term expenses has made their financial situation much worse.
