"Cochiti" has two broken legs

Donation protected
"Cochiti" was rescued by police who found him lying helpless beside the road in Hardeeville, SC.   He was brought to us at Maranatha Farm because we take in sick and injured homeless animals, we get them medical care and when they are well we find them loving homes.

Certainly we were dismayed by "Cochiti's" condition.  He is pitifully thin, weak and scared.  X-rays revealed he has sustained two fractures to his left femur and also his right tibia and fibula.  He needs surgery by an orthopedic surgeon.

We chose the name "Cochiti" because he shows us a special spirit of gentleness and affection despite his painful injuries.  The Cochiti were highly civilized Pueblo Indians who disappeared hundreds of years ago, leaving no clues why they abandoned their fields and homes.  "Cochiti" cannot tell us who hurt him or why.  Gentle as he is, someone must have loved him.   Thin as he is, it must have been a difficult time when a dog who weighs less than 6 pounds can't be given enough food.

He's eating enough high quality food to make up his strength now, and he presses his little head against our hands as we tend him.  It has been at least four days since he was injured.  He needs orthopedic surgery on both legs, and he needs it now.

At this time of year, most of our supporters have not yet begun to make their year end donations.  Our resources are at their lowest.  We need to be able to meet an estimate of $4,000 before the surgery will be scheduled.  We can only meet half that amount right now.  We will be very grateful for everyone who helps "Cochiti" recover from these painful crippling injuries and live a normal life.
