COBRA 2018

 

The City of Bridgeport Rugby Alliance (COBRA) is committed to helping the youth of Bridgeport by providing an outlet for increased focus, fitness, camaraderie, character…and fun. We accomplish this by introducing young men & women to the international sport of Rugby. 

Rugby greatly helps with college admissions and scholarships, and offers local clubs for players who don’t go on to college after high school.  It is the world’s largest fraternity/sorority and fosters strong lifelong bonds of friendship and business ties.

In 2017, COBRA began working with the City of Bridgeport Lighthouse Program to introduce Rugby, and all of its many benefits, to hundreds of middle school boys and girls throughout the City of Bridgeport.  The program has proven wildly popular.  Plans for 2018 include tripling the number of schools that we work with and students that we reach.  We will form U12 and U14 travel rugby teams for boys and girls, starting them on a path towards college rugby and academic success.  COBRA will again participate in Bridgeport’s Healthy Kids Day program in July, bringing rugby fun to 1500 kids at Seaside Park. 

COBRA is planning big things for the children of Bridgeport this year.  Please help us.  We need money to make this program grow. We don’t want to deprive one child of the opportunity to join the worldwide rugby community and experience all of the lifelong benefits that come with it.
