Coats From Cullen

This is my brother, Cullen J. McCann-Schlesiona he passed away unexpectedly on November 21,2018.  On 12/19/18 my sister created a nonprofit in his name, we are working to keep Cullen’s humanitarian efforts going,  the immediate goal of this non profit, is collecting and distributing coats, blankets, shoes and warm clothing to the homeless. With the help of donations we can grow this goal into something  bigger to help more people.

Please take the time to read this post and you will understand why this nonprofit is so important I wrote this tribute shortly after he passed: 

My brother was a hippie, hipster. He believed in love and peace for the world. He was my hiking partner, and I will miss those journeys so much... each day that passes seems to become more difficult. He was such a jokester I keep waiting for the “Gotcha”. 

He lived life fully and completely traveled in Europe and Brazil and all over the USA . He hiked in the Rockies and the Appalachian Trail and many others in between. He lived in Manhattan, Los Angeles and Aspen, working in restaurants and hospitality around “The Who’s Who”, he also danced barefoot hand in hand with strangers connected by their spirituality and went to soundbaths, vision quests and sweat lodges. No matter who you were, my brother loved you, NO JUDGEMENT 

I said it before and say it again my brother’s message is one of love ❤️ and peace ✌respect for HUMANS, all of them no matter who they were or what they believed in, he loved animals and nature he loved learning about everything and was so damn smart, like he would be that “phone a friend” you would need for the random questions, trust me he would know the answer.

I wish I had the answer to why he is already gone but we will never know anything more than he was simply called to heaven for something greater and now his presence will be felt by everyone in the air, I will look to the sky on bright days for that gleam he always had in his eyes. I will listen to the wind to hear his voice. I don’t know how to not grieve but my brother always said to my Mom, if anything happened to him, do not mourn him, instead he wanted his life to be celebrated.

I want to share with you some things about my brother and his humanitarianism, my brother lived  in the city in his early 20’s and on and off ever since. He often spoke to us about all the homeless he would pass in his commuting, very often when he would leave family holidays he would pack up take out containers (as many as my Mom had in the house) with holiday meals to hand out to the people he would pass on his way home. My brother has taken his shoes off his own feet to give to someone in the street who had none, no fanfare, no photo ops, he just did so and continued on in his socks.


My brother truly loves his family, both through blood and bond,  I don’t believe for one minute that his love is gone. Cullen and had a very strong sense of spirituality, he is very connected with the earth and the environment. Honor him with loving one another, respecting nature and giving forward to others.
