<a href="http://www.coalcrackerkids.org">Coal Cracker Kids</a>  is a non-profit organization with a mission to empower young people in Pennsylvania's Anthracite Coal Region through youth-led projects that explore sense of place and promote professional development. Since 2014 we've published a quarterly youth-led newspaper that features writing and photos from our young journalists, who receive small Deadline Club stipends for quality work that is completed on time. We Need Your Help Right now, we really need your help to continue our work, which until now has mostly been supported by volunteers, kind donations from our core supporters, and start-up grant funding from the Community Reporting Alliance. To grow and continue to serve more young people, we need: - computer equipment - design software - reliable internet access - funding to sustainably support our print and design costs - funding to support journalism trainings and professional development field trips - professional staff to advise participants and engage in public outreach - repairs to our headquarters, which we have been working on ourselves since 2017 We've set a campaign goal of $15,000 but we could do so much more if we exceed our goal! You Have the Power to Make a Difference It’s easy to complain about the challenges young people in the Coal Region face — such as neighborhood blight, opioid abuse, or crime — but it’s empowering to take action and make a contribution to an organization like Coal Cracker Kids that is creating alternatives and opportunities.
