Coach Matt Machowski Memorial Fund

Matthew Machowski was the loving husband of Wendy and the father to 5 amazing children ranging from 1st grade through college freshman. Matt was taken away suddenly from his family and the children that he loved and coached at the young age of 37. Every kid who saw him at Kroger, the football fields, the baseball or softball diamonds would always call out “Hi Coach Matt!” While he raised 5 children at home, Matt really had many dozens more that he loved and coached. He was loved by all that knew him and would always do anything for anybody, but especially the kids. Just a week before his untimely death he and his entire family were camping with his “Demons Baseball Family” while at a baseball tournament. A mere 3 days prior to his death he was as vibrant as ever when he and two of his children were being interviewed by WXYZ TV in Detroit. They were attending the grand opening of Cabelas and the reporter asked for an interview.

Coach Matt was on a business trip overseas late last year and he came home with an unknown illness that was attacking his heart. Many doctors from Henry Ford to The Cleveland Clinic were unable to determine the exact nature of the illness, but he was weak and tired all of the time. He was placed on disability by his employer, but at a reduced salary. The many months of reduced salary, doctors appointments, medications, and his relatively young age have all combined to place a heavy financial burden on his family. And now in their greatest time of need, they find themselves in a terrible financial position. The community he loved so much is trying to do what we can do to give back to his wife and children as much as he gave to our families and children.

The family appreciates any and all donations and they will be used for Coach Matt’s final expenses, his remaining medical bills, as well as the ongoing expenses of raising 5 children.
