I think everyone can agree, William P. Mahar was an amazing man.
Some called him "Mahar," some called him "Coach." Most knew him as a teacher, mentor, and friend...and to those of us lucky enough to be family, he was "Papa." He was a teacher at Wasson High School and RJWAC for 19 years.
He left us all rather suddenly, leaving behind a legacy of sports trophies, racing cars, cheerleading championships, and inducing smiles wherever he went. He only wanted happiness for those around him. His compassion was obvious, and his contribution to the community was unparalleled.
His vision was to support his family, ensure his students' success, and a big part of him just wanted to finish that old '72 Nova that so many of us recognise as his favorite.
If you can contribute anything to help Coach's family in this time of despair, they could sure use it. There will be medical bills, costs for arrangements, and if there's enough left over...we want to see that Nova completed, just the way he always wanted it.
We're going to miss him greatly.
