2 Years back taxes on my home

On October 10, 2014 the County of Broome will purchase a tax sale certificate on this parcel....my home since 5 years old. No morgage payment, just 2 years back taxes. My total for 2013 and 2014 is $5,671.70.  I'm scared, yet remaining positive. $1,417.80 must be put down for an agreement no later than 11am August 22, 2014. If this is not done the house goes up for sale and will be published in a consortium of local papers. We junked our Van yesterday and have $300.00. I do not handle these events in adult fashion. I have gone thru two of these agreements since 2000, when my mom passed away, I have been escorted by guards out of the Broome County Office Bldg., and I'm ready to stand at the end of the driveway,,,packin....and ready to protect all that I have. I have nothing to loose at 66 years old. I see things in a different way, I know that property and school taxes are collected, I do not mind the property, but the school taxes are killing me on a fixed income....and I do not have children. Taxes go up, food goes up, utillities go up and my bank account goes down. I know there are others in the same situation, in fact I know of a couple families in my neighborhood who were recently thrown out. I have no where to go. No family, no resources, no credit....credit would not help anyway, when you go into this agreement with the county, one needs to pay the down payment, plus the monthly amount due,  this will amount to $200.14 each month for 12 months, and also keep up with upcoming taxes....I have sat down once again and budgeted. I'm looking around for other things to sell, and I'm scared, where will we go, and the three dogs are with us, they are our family. My other half takes on any job offer to add to our coffers. I am not proud, I have no score to settle. This is life....and right now I am opening my heart to admit that....We are scared! Thank you for reading. Sincerely, Mary Schwartz
