Janet Foley had worked beside me for over 20 years. When you work closely with someone that long, you become not only a dear friend, but they become a confidant. Janet was the left hand to my right, the left brain to my righ...wait, most say I had no brain. Anyway, you get the picture.
Janet was a 30+ year employee when we got the news that her job was being relocated. It was devastating not only from the job loss, but because besides taking in and raising her two grandchildren, she was fighting her first round of breast cancer. Ultimately, she had to make the difficult decision to leave a job she not only did exceptionally well, but that she thoroughly enjoyed. Our entire office felt the impact immediately.
For Janet, with her health issues and age, it became apparent that finding work was proving to be more difficult than we all knew. She remained unemployed for over a year and had to survive on her severence money. Ultimately, with health costs accompanied with her modest living habits even that began to run out. During this time she went through a second treatment for breast cancer....insult to injury.
Finally, this past spring Janet was able to find a job! No it did not pay as well, but she would make due with it, until the bottom of her world fell out again! Janet was diagnosed a THIRD time with breast cancer, and now it has spread to both her lymph system and her liver. Needless to say, this was devastating news, and her treatment options are minimal. To make matters worse, the pain required her to quit her newly found job, leaving her in terrible financial hardship.
SOOOOO.....this is were you all come in! I am appealing to your compassionate side, and praying that you all can find it within your hearts to give. Janet has never been one to ask for anything, which makes it even more important that we all pitch in to help.
I'm on bended knees that God not only take care of Janet, but that He would soften the hearts of all those who read this and they find a way to give something, anything, even to the point of it hurting just a little bit!
