Andrew David Lopez
8/23/1984 – 8/1/2014
Sadly we mourn the passing of Andrew David Lopez, 29, a beloved family member who passed away on August 1, 2014. Our family is in grief as a link in our family chain is broken. Andrew was the only child of David Lopez and Rachel Trujillo. He suffered from mental illness and his struggles in life were enormous. We have experienced much distress due to the multitude of pitfalls and setbacks that he and our family have encountered trying to navigate the mental health system. Despite these many obstacles we never GAVE UP! Even through all of this Andrew remained a creative BEAST. He was a writer, a drawer, a song writer, and lyricist. He hoped one day to become a professional lyricist and create music.
Due to the sudden passing of a man so young we reach out for any type of financial assistance that can be given to aid the family with funeral costs. This is a very hard time and to add an additional hardship to the bereaving family they are unable to obtain all of the funds necessary to pay for final costs. We are in desperate need of help now in order to put Andrew to rest. His mother works two jobs to support her family, and his dad was injured on the job and is recovering from a recent surgery. Sadly due to these many expenses they are unable to afford all the costs to bury their only child.
As most Americans, in their mid to late 20’s, Andrew had no health insurance and no life insurance. All of his parent’s funds through the last 10 years have gone to pay for medical support for Andrew. In our lifetime we can never think nor imagine how heartbreaking it is to bury a child. That is not supposed to be the order of things. Parents are supposed to go first, leaving their children to laugh and reminisce about good times and how embarrassing their parents acted during holidays, etc. We will honor Andrew and his life through a continual advocacy for those with mental illness, as the fight is not over. We can only pray that awareness for mental illness continues and deaths associated with mental illness will reduce in hopes that others will not have to endure this unexpected tragedy. Any help that you can give to our family during this very difficult time, so that we can provide Andrew with his eternal rest would be most greatly appreciated. Thank you.
