Keagan is 23 year olds. Keagan has a 4 year old boy named Kade.
On July 19th he was in a rollover accident. He was ejected and pinned under the vehicle for approximately 8 hours before being discovered by a Smith Center women. He was flight for life'd to Good Samaritan Hospital. He was in an induced coma for 11 days. His injuries include crush syndrome on the right side of his body. He has been fighting for his life with several issues consisting of infection and Pneumonia. Due to the crush injuries his kidneys have shut down and he has been on dialysis. He has had several surgeries to remove dead tissue and muscle. D octors at Kearney have determined the leg needs to be removed and a hip articulation is not a common surgery so they feel he needs to go to a hospital qualified to handle such a procedure. August 2nd he was transported by helicopter to UNMC Omaha Nebraska to have his injuries assess by a trauma team and surgeon that are qualified to handle an amputation of this kind. His arm has finally been closed after 5 surgeries and August 6th wll be his 6th surgery on his leg. After several days of tests and consults with critical care team, wound care team, dialysis team, trauma team, and surgical team, occupational therapy and physical therapy we removed the leg on August 6th leaving a small stump mid thigh to stabilize balance. Due to complications during surgery the doctors ended surgery early and another surgery will be on August 8th to possibly to complete a hip disarticulation based on the status of infection and available muscle and tissue needed to complete the closing of the wound.
