Help Maggie Hear!

Donation protected
My name is Katie and I am writing this for my little sister Maggie! On May 6, 2014 my little sister, who has been deaf since she was born, got the news that she will be able to get an auditory brainstem implant which is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf. After Surgery, device, and rehabilitation we are looking at about $20,000. Anything will help whether it be a positive thought throughout your day, a prayer, or a donation. Her surgery date is September 12, 2014. I will update as much as possible thank you for taking the time to read this and share Maggie's story! THANK YOU!!

This is Maggie's story:
If you know Maggie well you know how crazy, animated and amazing she is! That just her facial expressions will automatically put you in a better mood and her personality is bigger than she is! This 65 pound princess is my hero! but this is some stuff you might not of known about Maggie. On June 13, 2000 my family was blessed with Margret Elizabeth. (we call her Maggie) She started her battle very early (too early) with a lot of health issues including a collapsed lung, cleft palate, heart issues and was born completely deaf. The doctors told my parents they did not believe she would live passed the age of one and that we should enjoy the time that we had with her. (she turned fourteen this past June) Just a couple months after learning that my baby sister was deaf my mom started me in sign language classes. Our entire family learned sign by the time Maggie was ready to start "talking". She has been in classes at school with other deaf kids and has even gone away to deaf camp. She has been turned down for a cochlear implant at least twice each time more devastating than the last. The doctors told us last time that they didn't think she would ever be able to hear. We figured nothing would ever change until May 6, 2014 when we got that news that would change her life forever! Thank you from our family to your this means so much to us that you took time out of your day to read this!
